Nutrition

The World Health Organisation recommends that we consume between 9 and 13 portions of vegetables and fruit per day. In Japan the recommended daily intake is 17 portions per day. The British government recommends an intake of 5 portions (5 of fruit and 5 of vegetables) each day. The United States recommends 3 portions per day. The recommendations differ from place to place. Countries with a lower consumption of vegetables and fruit face greater health challenges.

We recognise that good nutrition is important for children's overall health and well-being. Children's meals are prepared 3 times daily and incorporate a good variety of fish, meats, vegetables and fruit and super foods. Meals are prepared from fresh ingredients by our nursery chef. We put particular emphasis on sourcing seasonal foods, which are grown in the UK, are fresher, have been stored for less time, have travelled less, have not undergone chemical ripening, are unwaxed and have higher levels of vitamins and minerals to support strong growth and development.
