Oliver thoroughly enjoyed his time at the nursery and it is with great sadness that we leave the place. As a parent I have noted the benefits of the Montessori Concept .

We have still not found a nursery in London that could match the quality of care and learning he received at the nursery. It is definitely a place I would recommend to parents. Oliver’s development was closely monitored and staff always gave honest feedback. I was impressed at how closely they monitored the progress of the children by way of feedback I received each evening. It was comforting to know that Oliver spent his time in a place that continually assisted his development and challenged him in new areas. The owners and staff are lovely people who genuinely enjoy their work which makes a lot of difference. Many months on, Oliver still remembers some of his teachers and can refer to them in certain situations. He had a particular fondness for Max the owner and has referred to him on several occasions. Every time he notices a particular flag he remembers his best friend. This early recognition of flags particularly impressed me. It is a place I miss as a parent and I am sure Oliver too. We are so full of appreciation and gratitude for the expert, sensitive approach taken by everyone at Smith's Children - especially Marcia and Karina and recently Laura. Members of staff really seem to 'get' our son and understand his likes and needs: when R made progress with naps, eating and standing at nursery, it was lovely to see their genuine pleasure. We have been inspired by the adventures R has at nursery too - we would never had thought of giving R the chance to crawl independently at the playground, and he really loves it! He's very happy confident and curious and we're so glad of the contribution Smiths Children makes to that. Thanks everyone.

Our child feels safe and happy at Smith's. She has built a good relationship with staff. The activities she does are interesting, fun and educational. She has learn't lots of new skills whilst at nursery such as how to eat with a spoon and the actions to songs.

Smith's Children nursery has a warm caring atmosphere.

We have been with Smith's Children now for nearly a year now and still recommend it unequivocally for its down to earth, common sense philosophy towards child development.

Smiths Children, Cambridge is an outstanding nursery/pre-school. It is quite different from a conventional nursery. The staff are exceptional. They are clearly highly trained and have great insight into and understanding of children's needs. The staff are caring and quickly form lovely relationships with the children in their care. There is a calm, ordered atmosphere and there is stimulation and variety during the day as well as lots of time outdoors.

I could not recommend this nursery highly enough. Cathy Fisher (Cambridge)

This is a wonderful nursery! We love it! It is quite small and run with extraordinary care and warmth. The managers and staff members are very kind and professional. My daughter had a good time there. It is a pity that we have to go back to china soon. Thank you everyone! Thank you for all the love and care you have shown doudou. We will miss you very much. We were visiting Cambridge for 6 weeks and our son who is almost 2 years old attended Smiths Children full-time for the entire period. We were worried about how he would adjust since everything was new to him, including the language, but Lesley, Max and Pamela were very attentive and flexible and he got into an excellent rhythm within a few days.

Our impression is that the Montessori system worked very well for our son, and he grew more confident during our stay. We could also make out that he really enjoyed the frequent outings and the food which is quite varied and healthy.

As parents themselves, I felt confident that Pam & Max would be able to look after my son in a caring and experienced way. They are warm and welcoming and my son is happy to go to either of them when he needs something. He has even learn't Max's name and calls for him at home! As my son was only 1 when he first went into childcare, I wanted him to go into a loving family environment, rather than a large nursery setting, and we have both made close relationships with each member of the family. The other things about Smith's Children that set them apart from other providers is their delicious, home-cooked and very nutritious meals prepared freshly everyday - my son loves the mix of Spanish, English and other World foods, and has developed a healthy appetite and has well balanced diet. He has also enjoyed learning Spanish and developed his English and Spanish alongside one another from the start. As the log cabin in the garden is going to be used shortly, this can only go to improve the space and facilities for the children. Katy Mack (Great Abington)

Dear Pam And Max

Thank you for all you are giving Nuala. It is lovely to see her exploring and learning about the world with you as well as with me. It took a while for me to find a place that reflects my own beliefs about childcare and places importance on child led experiential learning, good food, and warmth. She is clearly happy to be with you all.

Best wishes

Smiths Children is a family run home based kiddies day care & evening group in South Cambs village of West Wratting. Pamela and Max have been looking after my son for the past term. For me they do the 3 pm school collection, and provide afternoon & evening care, and he's very happy there. They've got two young children of their own, and the family atmosphere makes for a much better environment than the industrial settings of larger nurseries. They are currently expanding by building a log cabin classroom in the garden. The project is well on the way, and it promises to be an exciting year ahead at the Gordon-Smith household. Pamela & Max provide home cooked meals, games and outings, the house is bright, clean and secure. There are no real negatives to report, except that the house can be a little full when all the kids turn up together! We pay via child care vouchers, and consider their service excellent value for money. We will continue to use the service, and would happily recommend to others looking for child care arrangements in South Cambridge.

I would highly recommend Smiths Children as Pamela has looked after my son who is 3 years to my great satisfaction. They are a very dedicated and reliable team and i particularly like their montessori approach. In all ways, your child would certainly benifit. My son goes to their day care and enjoys himself very much! I wish them success!
