Forest School

We are actively developing a forest school approach at our urban location. Ultimately this is an ongoing development and requires both specific knowledge and the establishment of a suitable area where activities can take place and involve children of all ages.

Some of our enthusiastic team are engaged in forest school training with the Green Light Trust.
We are training for the roles of 'Forest School Leader' and 'Forest School Assistant' and hope to be qualified after 9 months of study and training, which also includes a 2 day Outdoor (Pediatric) First Aid course. www.greenlighttrust.org/forest-schools

Forest School children can expect to make mud faces out of molehills, decorated with lichen, twigs and whatever they may find around them. Or whittling sticks, using willow or similar green sticks and a vegetable peeler to make corded rope or to toast damper bread over a wood fire. They will learn to tie knots and set up and pack away their shelter and use natural materials existing around them to make useful items.
